  1. Dear Ms Birch,

Are you the author of The Orb? I just read the short story in Cricket Magazine. Rather impressed with the tale, I want to share it with my 6th and 7th graders.

Have you published other pieces? I would like to encourage students to write and am planning on using your piece to get students to expand on their own writing.

Good luck with your writing career. I hope you are enjoying life.

    • Hi, Eric.

Yes, I am, indeed, the author of “The Orb.” I’m so pleased that you enjoyed it and glad to hear that your students will have the opportunity to read it.

I have several other published pieces, which are linked here: https://wordsofbirch.com/publications-2/
“Dragonfly’s First Flight” was originally published in Cricket as well, and “Down by the Riverside” in Abyss & Apex also features a child protagonist. “Guardian” in the Grantville Gazette’s Universe Annex and “Silverbird Rising” in Orson Scott Card’s Intergalactic Medicine Show both have young adult protagonists.

Thanks for reaching out. It’s always a pleasure to hear people are reading and enjoying my stories.

      Rebecca

    • Hello, Savannah.

Thank you for reaching out. I hope that you enjoyed “Her Hands that Held the Stars.”

In answer to your question, I prefer to keep my full birth date private, but I was born in December, a lovely, if chilly month.

      Wishing you all the best,

      Rebecca
