I learned today that March 2 is Dr. Seuss’ birthday, so I decided that to celebrate I would share a poem I wrote in 1996 or 1997, inspired by his work. I make no claim to it being good, but it made me happy at the time, and I hope it might amuse someone somewhere.
The Shoe
The shoe.
The new shoe.
The new, BLUE shoe.
The new, blue shoe flew.
Who threw the shoe?
Who threw the new, blue shoe that flew?
Was it you?

Cute!
I have read your new story, and as usual feel like I need a little more to complete the picture. I like the notion of one’s mood affecting the weather, because that (like the best of your writing) is true on an emotional level. If a significant person in your life or circle is “bigly” mad, sad, or glad, it surely does affect the micro-climate.
Love,
Mama
